Integration

This series is an extension of 'A Different Taste', it explores the fusion of cultures by looking through various multicultural food mixtures. I have been living in the UK for years and sometimes I have missed my home cuisine. However, I could not remember the real taste of my hometown accurately when I was trying to cook those dishes. The integration of two different kinds of cultures has been working on my tongue since I moved in a new environment. My diet preference has changed and mixed up by flavours of food products around the world. I have felt no longer comfortable to be belonging in any certain culture. Therefore, in every photo, I mixed two similar foods that I have tasted from different cultures to symbolize the paradoxical feeling of tasting food in outland by smashing or crushing them. The sequencing of photos can be divided to be dry raw, dry cooked, fresh raw, artificial raw and liquid. Although I still cannot recall my home flavour, the food mixtures from different continents have connected and constructed colourful images in a city.

A Different Taste

As a Taiwanese, I have already been living in the UK for some time and accepting the local diet culture which is rather different from my hometown. However, the home flavour is not originally traditional Taiwanese cuisine anymore, but a new result which mixes with British substitution. The combination of both cultures creates a familiar but an unknown world.
